About
For most of my career I was retained by Garrard The Crown Jewellers.
Their accolade to me is as follows:
Edwina Emery is one of the country's leading sculptors of animals subjects. She has an outstanding ability to capture action, character and likeness in her work. A competitive and successful equestrienne in her right, her extensive knowledge of her subject is reflected in her meticulous attention to detail.
I have created pieces that are collected worldwide. Commissions have included sculptures for many heads of state and limited editions have featured famous horses such as Desert Orchid, Milton and well known jockeys such as Lester Piggott and Shoemaker.
I am a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths
and a former member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors
Animals In Our Lives
A knowledge is increasing in all of us who live with animals, I believe:
As I get older I understand more of the nuances that show us how perceptive and intelligent animals are, and how blind we can be to their signals to us. I have made so many mistakes, I cringe when I remember how I misunderstood young horses on the lung when they slowed, lowered their heads and opened their mouths.
So thank heaven for the Internet making it possible for three people in particular to spread their understanding. Inestimable benefit must be spreading world wide for animals because of their lives. They are: For horses-Monty Roberts, For dogs-Cesar Milan, his works have helped me as I care for abandoned cats and dogs around my home. I have up to 12 dogs, and German, British and Dutch friends all have up to 25 rescues. Fortunately The "Cantinho dos Animais Abandonados" in Viseu a charity that helps us with the neutering, or we would not cope. They have over 600 dogs. Also I give thanks for the life of a woman called Temple Brendin; There is a very moving film about her, she saved millions of cattle from distress at slaughter time by design changes.
My thanks to these wonderful people and to all who help animals in however small way.
